Treatments For The Eyes

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to wake up with radiant, glowing eyes instead of looking tired and bleary-eyed with dark circles to match? But because of sleep deprivation, late-night partying, or simply because of aging, achieving the goal of waking up fresh-faced with bright, youthful-looking eyes seems to be more of a challenge. Hello, wrinkles and under-eye bags! That particular area is sensitive to stretching and sagging, making it look older than other parts of your face.

Fortunately, there are procedures available that can transform your eyes, helping them regain their bright and youthful appearance. By focusing on cosmetic treatments for the face, me and my team of aesthetic specialists at Carolina Facial Plastics in Charlotte can perform both surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic techniques designed to fully enhance your unique attractiveness. As a Beverly Hills-trained double-board certified facial plastic surgeon, I have dedicated my career solely to facial plastic surgery, giving me an edge in both experience and knowledge in facial anatomy. This allows me to provide you with the best results using the latest and most advanced techniques and technologies.

The following are the eye procedures we offer at Carolina Facial Plastics:

Blepharoplasty To Rejuvenate Sagging, Puffy Eyes

A blepharoplasty aka an “eye lift” can define, reshape, and enhance your eyelids, transforming your entire face as your eyes become more expressive. It is a surgical procedure that can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids, or both.

Upper blepharoplasty, which is sometimes referred to as an awake eye lift (because it can be performed without anesthesia), will focus solely on correcting drooping upper eyelids, while a lower blepharoplasty will aim to remove puffy eye bags for a well-rested and refreshed appearance. I will perform an in-person consultation to evaluate your facial anatomy and to understand your goals so that I can determine and recommend the best course of action for you. For optimal results, blepharoplasties can also be performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as a brow lift or fat transfer.

Non-Surgical Eyelift To Smooth Laugh Lines And To Lift The Brow Area

As an expert facial plastic surgeon, one of the most popular treatments I can perform is the non-surgical eyelift. Also referred to as a liquid eyelift, the quick and minimally invasive in-office procedure will help replace lost volume and rejuvenate the brow area. By injecting facial fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane underneath the eyebrow, support can be created and therefore, elevating the height of the brows and softening the bony rim around them. This creates a softer, more youthful appearance with the eyes appearing awake, brighter, and more vibrant. The procedure can also alter the contour of your eyes into a more almond-shape while lifting deepened laugh lines.

Botox To Eliminate Crow’s Feet

Around your eyes, including the upper portion of your face, you’ll find creases that are forming. Those aren’t actually wrinkles, but dynamic rhytids. They are caused by the constant movement of muscles below your skin. For instance, when you raise your forehead, lines will appear. And when you bring your eyebrows together, you’ll see frown lines between your eyes. The best way to treat these lines and areas is to weaken those muscles using Botox. Injecting Botox into these muscles prevents movement of the overlying skin, therefore, allowing the skin to repair itself and causing the lines to soften and smooth out over time. Specifically, Botox can effectively address the 11 lines between your eyes, crow’s feet, and forehead horizontal creases.

Fillers To Get Rid Of Under Eye Circles and Tear Troughs

With aging comes losing fat pockets around the eye, causing the under-eye area to separate from the cheek and creating a hollow appearance. Facial fillers are a great option for those who want to correct this loss of volume. I typically use fillers such as Vollure, Belotero, Restylane, and Restylane Refyne to fill in hollow areas and create that smooth transition between the under-eye area and the upper cheek.

Fillers can also be used to correct the deepening grooves on the face, more commonly known as tear troughs. Traditionally, treating tear troughs would involve surgically placing fat tissue into the under-eye area. But thanks to dermal fillers such as Belotero and Restylane which are made of hyaluronic acid, the skin gets instant volume and lift without a single incision. By injecting these fillers around the tear trough, your skin becomes plumper and more supple, effectively smoothing out the visible groove on your skin.

Do these injections made around the eye area hurt? No. In my Charlotte office, I perform filler treatments using a cannula instead of the traditional needle. The blunt tip of the cannula causes less trauma to the tissues, which means decreased pain, discomfort, and swelling. This technique also significantly decreases the chances of bruising after an injection.

Latisse For Longer, Fuller Lashes

Eyes are the windows to the soul, they say. And framing these windows are the eyelashes which, on most of us, can appear thin, short, plain, and unhealthy. Luckily, there is a simple treatment that can give you longer and thicker lashes that will improve the appearance of your eyes and your entire face.

Latisse is a safe and effective prescription medication approved by the FDA to stimulate the lashes to grow longer and thicker. Using an applicator, the product is brushed onto the base of the eyelashes at night. In 8 weeks, you can expect longer and fuller lashes and full correction between 12-16 weeks.
