Remarkable Care, Exceptional Results

Dr. Kulbersh is a talented doctor with a great office and a wonderful staff. As a man, I hesitated for years to step into a plastic surgery practice. Well, I’m glad I did! Dr. Kulbersh listened very patiently to my concerns and expectations from the first consult through the surgery and after. There were no complications at all from the procedure and most importantly, my lower eye lids are vastly improved! A note to fellow patients: be patient with the recovery/healing time…it will happen!

Types of blepharoplasty we offer

  • Upper blepharoplasty – also called an upper eye lift, this surgical procedure involves removing excess skin and modifying the fat of the upper eyelid to create a more open eye and a refreshed appearance.
  • Lower blepharoplasty – this surgical procedure eliminates excess skin and fat under the eyes to reduce puffiness and create a smooth area that transitions from the lower eyelashes to the cheeks. In most cases, the eyelid fat is moved into a better position and is not removed.
  • Non-surgical blepharoplasty – also called a liquid eyelift, this minimally-invasive procedure involves injecting dermal fillers to restore volume to smooth away eye bags and reduce discoloration. A plasma pen can be used to tighten and smooth loose upper eyelid skin.

Your Blepharoplasty Experience

Your Consultation

When you inquire about blepharoplasty in Carolina Facial Plastics, you can expect us to get back to you within 24 hours of contacting us. We will then set your appointment with Dr. Kulbersh.

During your consultation, Dr. Kulbersh will evaluate your condition and listen to your concerns and goals. Then, he will customize the best procedure plan for you.

Your Procedure

Dr. Kulbersh will perform your blepharoplasty at the fully accredited Fairview Surgical Suites. Upper or lower blepharoplasty typically takes 1-2 hours to complete and requires local or general anesthesia.

For lower blepharoplasty – Dr. Kulbersh may use various techniques to customize the eyelid procedure, depending on your concerns. Lower eye bags are typically caused by extra fat in the region. This fat is moved into a better position in the cheek area to smooth the region. This technique creates the most natural and long-lasting result. Dr. Kulbersh believe in preserving the fat around the eye. To treat loose, wrinkled skin on the lower eyelid, he makes a small incision underneath the eyelashes and removes excess skin. If there is loss of volume in the cheek that has contributed to under-eye circles, Dr. Kulbersh can use facial fillers, facial fat transfer, or a cheek implant to restore volume to the cheek area.

For upper blepharoplasty – Dr. Kulbersh makes an incision along the upper eyelid’s crease. He either removes pockets of fat in the upper eyelid or repositions it so the area will lay flatter. He also trims excess skin that is hooding the eye. Finally, he closes the incision to reveal a smoother and tauter upper eyelid.

Preparing for your blepharoplasty begins weeks leading up to your surgery. We will guide you through the process. Instructions may include avoiding certain medications (e.g., blood thinners) and supplements that may increase the risk of bruising after surgery.

We will provide a list of all instructions to make your recovery process as smooth as possible. You may contact our Charlotte office if you have any questions before your surgery.

The results may last for 10 years or longer.

There are no specific age restrictions for undergoing blepharoplasty. The best blepharoplasty candidates are in good health and want to improve their appearance and vision.

Blepharoplasty is only covered by insurance when it is considered a “functional” blepharoplasty or when it is performed for medical reasons (e.g., when drooping eyelids are affecting the field of vision). Blepharoplasty is not covered when it is performed as an elective cosmetic surgery.

Yes. Dermal fillers provide non-surgical rejuvenation to the eye area. Injecting the under-eye and cheek area with facial fillers restores lost volume to treat the hollows and shadows and soften the tear trough. The result is a naturally refreshed appearance around the eyes. Fillers also smooth laugh lines and create more defined cheekbones.
