Your Consultation

You will begin your journey with a comprehensive consultation at Carolina Facial Plastics. During this session, we actively discuss your skin concerns and goals to form the foundation of your personalized microneedling treatment plan. After assessing your skin, our specialists can determine whether microneedling alone or a combination of microneedling with PRP/PRFM is the most suitable approach for you.

Your Microneedling Procedure

 

  1. Cleanse your skin. Our team thoroughly cleanses your skin to remove any makeup, oils, or impurities. This ensures a clean surface for the microneedling process and helps to prevent any potential irritation or infection.
  2. Relax during the treatment. Lie back and relax as the specialist gently glides the microneedling device across your skin. This process creates tiny micro-injuries that stimulate your skin’s natural healing response and collagen production.
  3. Feel mild vibrations. Most patients describe microneedling sensations like vibrations or sandpaper rubbing against the skin. Our team applies a topical numbing anesthetic to improve your comfort.
  4. Conclude your session. We apply a soothing, hydrating serum or cream to your skin and guide you on how to care for your skin post-treatment to maximize the benefits and promote healing.

Your Microneedling with PRP/PRFM Procedure

Microneedling with PRP/PRFM includes a few extra steps:

 

  1. Blood Draw and PRP/PRFM Preparation. We draw a small blood sample and process it to concentrate the PRP/PRFM.
  2. Microneedling. Our experts perform microneedling, creating controlled micro-injuries on your skin.
  3. PRP/PRFM Application. We apply the prepared PRP to your skin, enhancing the benefits of the microneedling.
  4. Aftercare Guidance. We provide you with post-treatment care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.

 

If you opt for exosome therapy, our team can apply exosomes directly to your skin after microneedling to accelerate your recovery and enhance your results.

Your Results

You will notice an immediate glow and progressive skin quality improvements over the subsequent weeks. We typically recommend at least 3-5 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results.

Patients commonly experience temporary redness, swelling, and bruising after microneedling, which will typically resolve within a few days.

The cost of microneedling varies based on each individual’s needs, including whether you combine the treatment with PRP/PRFM. We provide a detailed quote during your consultation to reflect your specific treatment plan.

  • Protect your skin from sun exposure with SPF moisturizer – avoid direct sun exposure for 3-5 days and no chemical sunscreens for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid applying traditional cosmetics for at least 24 hours before the treatment.
  • Don’t shave for at least 72 hours before the treatment.
  • Avoid blood thinners, NSAIDs, and dental work before the procedure.

The results from microneedling typically last several months, sometimes longer with PRP/PRFM, and patients can maintain these results with follow-up treatments.

We go to great lengths to ensure the procedures are comfortable for our patients. We apply medical-grade numbing cream to the treatment area before the microneedling procedure. Using this technique, patients feel little discomfort during the treatment.

Each treatment session takes about one hour. It takes 30 minutes for the numbing cream to take full effect. The process takes about 15 minutes without about 15 minutes of aftercare. Combining your treatment with PRP/PRFM extends the treatment time.

Do not have a microneedling procedure within 48 hours of injections of Botox or Dysport in the proximity to the treatment area to avoid potential misdistribution of injected neurotoxin.

Do not undergo a microneedling procedure within 2 weeks of injections of dermal fillers to avoid a potential inflammatory response.

We offer microneedling to adults aged 18 and older. During your consultation, we assess each individual’s suitability for the treatment.

Insurance generally does not cover microneedling with or without PRP/PRFM as it is a cosmetic procedure. However, our practice provides various financing options to make the treatment more accessible.
