Testimonial
“I had a Botox/Dysport consult and injection with Dr. Kulbersh’s PA, Courtney Whitley. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The appointment scheduling was accommodating to my work schedule. Courtney’s advice at the consult was clearly the result of years of experience and she listened to my concerns and addressed each in a thoughtful way. There was no sales pitch – I felt great about how the appointment went and my results were exactly as promised. We even chatted about additional products (at my request) and Courtney was very good at telling me the pros and cons of each and what I could expect from the treatment. This is a great office and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.”

At Carolina Facial Plastics, we focus entirely on cosmetic treatments for the face. We offer Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin as non-invasive options for facial rejuvenation. More than just a wrinkle-smoother, Dysport can also be used to treat excessive sweating and teeth grinding. It may be used to slim a square jaw caused by overactive masseter muscles as well.
The expert injectors at Carolina Facial Plastics include board-certified nurse practitioner, Courtney Whitley, and board-certified physician assistants, Heather Bryant and Amanda Piligian. All are skilled injectors with a level of expertise not found anywhere else in Charlotte, North Carolina. We can help you rejuvenate your appearance without giving you a “frozen” look that can occur when less experienced injectors perform the procedure.

Dysport is an injection that helps smooth wrinkles on the face by relaxing certain muscles that lead to the formation of the lines. It works similarly to Botox, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. If you are noticing wrinkles on your forehead, between your eyebrows, or at the corners of your eyes, Dysport may be able to help reduce those wrinkles and restore a more youthful appearance.
Dysport can also be combined with other procedures like dermal fillers or laser skin rejuvenation to further enhance the results for a patient.
Dysport works by relaxing the overactive muscles of the face, to prevent the repetitive movements that lead to the development of some wrinkles. By blocking the activity of facial muscles, existing wrinkles improve, the skin becomes smoother, and new wrinkles are prevented. These lines develop in the upper portion of the face, such as on the forehead and around the eyes.
The most common uses for Dysport include treating wrinkles and fine lines on the face. The specific areas include:
- Horizontal lines on the forehead
- Glabellar lines often referred to as frown lines or the 11s
- Crows feet in the outer corners of the eyes
Dysport offers additional cosmetic benefits beyond smoothing away wrinkles:
- Produce a subtle brow lift to refresh the eyes and upper face
- Smooth away chest wrinkles
- Reduce horizontal banding on the neck
- Create a slimmer jawline to improve the facial contour
In addition to its cosmetic benefits, Dysport is also used to treat some medical conditions, including:
Hyperhidrosis
Dysport can also be used effectively to treat hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. This condition causes embarrassment, anxiety, and self-consciousness for many people. In certain cases, hyperhidrosis can be socially and even functionally debilitating. Dysport stops excessive sweating by blocking the nerve signals that tell the sweat glands to produce sweat. Dysport can be injected into the forehead, scalp, and armpits to reduce sweating.
TMJ
A wide jawline may be due to persistent teeth grinding or clenching, known as bruxism. This issue can lead to associated symptoms like headaches, pain in the jaw and neck, and damage to the teeth. Dysport injections relieve these symptoms by relaxing the muscle that creates the tension.
Migraines
Dysport is used to treat chronic migraines as well. Although it’s not totally understood why Botox and Dysport work for migraines, it is believed they block the pain signals being sent to the brain, and relax the muscles in the head to reduce pain sensitivity. Dysport can be injected into the forehead, temples, and scalp.
There is no downtime and very little aftercare required after Dysport treatments. We recommend avoiding exercise or physical activity and rubbing or laying on the face for 4 hours after the procedure.
While results will vary, most patients will see improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows within 2-3 days after treatment.
Dysport can last anywhere from 3-6 months, depending on the individual patient and factors such as where it was injected and the injector’s technique. It is important to have Dysport injections done by a skilled injector as most patients want to trust their face to an expert. At Carolina Facial Plastics, we have the experience and expertise to tailor our treatments to each individual to ensure natural-looking results.

Frequently asked questions
For most patients, there is very little difference between Dysport and Botox. Both products contain Botulinum toxin type A, which is used to relax muscles and decrease movement. For most patients, the treatment experience and outcome should be very similar. Some patients may find that one product works better for them than the other. However, both products typically last between 3-4 months. One difference is that Dysport may have a slightly quicker onset when compared to Botox. Dysport’s onset is usually 2-3 days, while the onset with Botox is 5-10 days. Some practitioners explain that choosing Botox vs. Dysport is like choosing between Coke vs. Pepsi – the products are very similar, but there may be a personal preference for one.
Dysport is not only used to treat existing wrinkles. It can also help to prevent new ones from forming when used at an earlier age. Younger patients often undergo Dysport treatments to inhibit lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles before the lines form.
Whether you are 25 or 70, you can experience the age-defying benefits of Dysport injections. Those with permanent frown lines or those wanting to prevent them from forming are good candidates for the treatment. Regardless of skin color, men and women alike will see an improvement in the appearance of their skin. Dysport is safe and can be used on nearly anyone.
Patients who want to treat excessive sweating, teeth grinding, migraines, and large masseters can also benefit from Dysport injections.
Since it is a minimally-invasive treatment, there is no recovery time needed after a Dysport procedure. You can get a treatment done on your lunch break and immediately return to work afterward. Any visible side effects, such as bruising and swelling, are minimal and temporary.
