“Courtney the NP was absolutely phenomenal. Took her time, didn’t push products or services, just wanted to help me be the best version of me that I envisioned. So happy I drove three hours to get to this practice and would do it again in a heartbeat.”
When the delicate skin under the eyes loses elasticity and volume, the loose tissue can create dark shadows and depressions in the tear trough that are difficult to conceal. As the tear trough or nasojugal groove deepens, it can make a person look older or more tired than they truly are, no matter what makeup they apply to the area. For years, the only way to treat pronounced tear troughs was surgery to move the fat tissue. Now, there is a non-surgical solution available. Tear trough fillers restore subtle volume to reduce discoloration and hollowing while refreshing the appearance. Our expert injectors in Charlotte, NC, Heather Bryant MPAS, PA-C, Amanda Piligian, PA-C, and Courtney Whitley, FNP-C, have great insight into the art of facial rejuvenation with fillers.

Dermal fillers, such as Restylane and Belotero, can dramatically improve the appearance of deep tear troughs. These fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally produced in the human body as a building block for collagen and healthy skin tissue. When injected into the treatment area, hyaluronic acid provides volume and lift to the skin.

By injecting small amounts of Restylane or Belotero around the tear trough, the skin will become plump and supple, lifting the skin and smoothing out the visible groove in the skin.
Courtney, Amanda, or Heather should be able to perform your tear trough treatment in about 15 minutes as most patients only need one syringe of dermal filler. Most patients are surprised by how painless dermal filler injections are in this area. However, patients worried about discomfort can receive a local anesthetic to numb the area before treatment. A blunt-tipped microcannula is used for the procedure to minimize side effects and ensure the smoothest result.
Patients may experience some bruising, swelling, or redness in the treated area, but these side effects typically fade within a few days. In the rare case that a patient is unhappy with the results, it is possible to safely reverse the effects with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
We recommend patients schedule dermal filler treatments at least two weeks before any important events to ensure that the bruising has had time to subside. The full and final results of the treatment can last between 9-12 months for many patients.
You must receive your tear trough filler injections from a skilled injector to get the most natural rejuvenation. Not every provider will have the same level of experience and expertise to achieve comparable results. If not properly administered, injectables near the eye can cause scarring, infection, and even blindness.
Our injectors have extensive experience with facial dermal fillers, and can achieve outstanding natural-looking and subtle results for our patients.
