Your IPL Photofacial Experience

You can schedule a consultation with the aesthetic specialist of your choice directly online. When you arrive for your consultation and treatment, your provider asks about your skin concerns and goals. Depending on your specific concerns, the severity of your needs, and the goals you hope to achieve, your specialist will recommend the appropriate IPL wavelength. She will then explain what to expect during and after your treatment.

Most IPL treatments take up to 30 minutes plus the consultation. Because the device uses multiple wavelengths of light, rather than a focused beam, most patients find the IPL photofacial treatment to be comfortable compared to lasers. Treatments typically feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin. However, our team can apply a numbing cream if you have sensitive skin.

Results and Recovery

Your skin may appear red and swollen immediately after the procedure. IPL photofacial temporarily darken brown spots, but this will fade within hours to a few days. You can apply makeup in the meantime to camouflage redness and dark spots. Results are usually clear within 1-3 weeks of your first treatment. You may need multiple IPL treatments to achieve the clear, radiant skin you want.

Frequently Asked Questions

BBL Hero IPL treatments usually take 30 minutes or less, making them the perfect lunchtime procedures.

Most people require 1-6 treatments spaced about one month apart. Those with more extensive sun damage will need 3-6 treatments, while those using the treatment for prevention may only need one treatment. Once desired results are obtained, we recommend a yearly BBL Hero IPL treatment to maintain the results and treat any additional sun damage that might appear.

A single IPL photofacial costs about $600 for the face and neck, but the price varies depending on your skin’s needs.

The BBL Hero photofacial is ideal for treating skin redness, acne, pigmentation, telangiectasia (tiny veins), or brown spots on the face, neck, or décolleté. Light, low-contrast brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to this treatment.

You can resume your normal activities immediately after IPL treatments, but avoid excessive sweating for at least a few days.

Treated spots will not reappear, but new ones can develop with more sun damage. If new spots or vessels form, they can be treated with additional sessions. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness.
