What to Expect From Your PRP Treatment at Carolina Facial Plastics

PRP injections consultation at Carolina Facial Plastics

Your Consultation

During your one-on-one 60-minute session, our aesthetic providers will carefully evaluate your medical history. We will discuss your skin concerns and goals. You may be asked to take the “before” pictures – but only if you’re comfortable doing so!

After that, we will schedule a date for the procedure that works best for you. Or, you can get treated on the day of the consultation.

We charge $75 for the consultation. This price will be applied to your treatment.

Before Your Procedure

Before your PRP appointment, we may ask you to temporarily stop taking certain medications. This is to ensure optimal platelet function for the best possible results. If you’re taking aspirin, blood thinners, or similar drugs, we will likely recommend stopping a few days prior to your treatment.

Day of Procedure

On the day of your appointment, we will draw a small amount of blood, around 2-4 tablespoons, from your arm. For your comfort, we offer numbing options like topical anesthetics and ProNox (laughing gas) if you’re feeling nervous.

Then, we will place your blood in a centrifuge machine to separate the blood into layers. This is a crucial part of the treatment since only one layer contains the necessary platelets. After that, we will inject this platelet-rich portion into the targeted areas on your face. The entire procedure normally takes about 60 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: A PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injection for the face is a cosmetic treatment that uses your own blood to promote collagen production, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin texture and overall appearance.

A: In the Charlotte area, PRP injections generally cost around $763 – $950. Your price at Carolina Facial Plastics will depend on your goals. We will provide a full quote during your consultation.

A: During the procedure, a small amount of your blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. This concentrated plasma, rich in growth factors, is then injected into your face or applied topically to stimulate the body’s natural healing process and promote collagen production.

A: PRP injections are typically administered in the undereye area and necklines. PRP can be applied topically or via a micro channeling device to the forehead, crow’s feet, cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and around the mouth.

A: The PRP facial procedure typically takes around 30 to 60 minutes, including the blood draw, centrifugation, and injection process.

A: Most people report minimal discomfort during the procedure, as the injections are relatively shallow. Topical numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area to minimize any potential discomfort.

A: There is typically little to no downtime after a PRP injection. You may experience some mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, but these side effects usually resolve within a few days.

A: The results of a PRP are not permanent, as the body will gradually absorb the injected plasma over time. Most people see results lasting between 6 and 12 months, after which additional treatments may be necessary to maintain the desired effects.

A: PRP injections are generally considered safe, as they use your own blood. However, potential risks include infection, bruising, and allergic reactions. It’s essential to have the procedure performed by a qualified and experienced healthcare professional.

A: The number of PRP treatments recommended can vary depending on your goals and the severity of your skin concerns. For optimal results, we suggest a series of 3 to 6 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

A: PRP injections are generally safe for most skin types and tones. However, individuals with certain medical conditions, such as blood disorders or active skin infections, may not be suitable candidates for this treatment.
