Juvéderm

  • Juvéderm is made up of a naturally occurring substance in the human body injected into the face to restore volume. Adding volume to the face can be a simple, easy, and quick method to improve facial balance and symmetry.

Achieve Facial Harmony with a Juvederm Treatment

As we age, we lose volume in the face due to the depletion of collagen and loss of fat and bone.

Our highly trained team, including Dr. Kulbersh, board-certified physician assistant Heather Bryant, and board-certified nurse practitioner Courtney Whitley, safely and effectively uses Juvederm for our patients at Carolina Facial Plastics in Charlotte.

The top aesthetic destination of the south, Carolina Facial Plastics, is led by double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jonathan Kulbersh. With his team of cosmetic experts, a fully accredited surgery center, and a private recovery retreat all located in the heart of SouthPark, Carolina Facial Plastics is known for unparalleled and natural-looking results exclusively for the face.

What is Juvéderm made of?

Juvéderm is composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is part of the extracellular matrix in the body responsible for supporting dermal cells.

By adding HA back into the dermal structure, we can effectively restore support and volume to the area.

Where can Juvéderm be injected?

Juvéderm in Charlotte can be safely injected into many areas of the face with a properly trained and expert injector. Some areas are more sensitive to injections than others due to the thinness of the skin. In these areas, the doctor has to take extra steps to ensure an optimal outcome.

What are the common treatment areas for Juvéderm in Charlotte?

There are many areas of the face where Juvéderm can be injected:

  • Tear trough or under-eye bags (liquid eyelift)
  • Jawline (liquid neck lift)
  • Eyebrows (liquid browlift)
  • Temples
  • Smile lines
  • Lips
  • Cheeks

What if I don’t like the result?

Juvederm can be easily reversed if the patient doesn’t like the result. There is an enzyme called hyaluronidase that instantaneously dissolves Juvéderm.

For our patients in Charlotte, Juvéderm can be easily removed by a simple injection of hyaluronidase.

How long does Juvéderm last?

There is no straightforward answer to this question. After Juvéderm is injected, it is slowly absorbed by the body. A better question to ask may be how often a patient needs to repeat the injections to maintain the desired results. Most patients like to have the area re-injected after 60% of the Juvéderm has been absorbed. Depending on the area of the face, this will be every 6-12 months. Areas of the face that move more frequently, like the mouth, will dissolve the Juvéderm faster than non-mobile areas like the temples. The best way to find out how long your North Carolina Juvéderm treatment will last is to schedule a consultation with Carolina Facial Plastics.

Can Juvéderm improve the bags underneath my eyes?

We commonly inject Juvéderm in Charlotte underneath the eyes of our patients to smooth away bags. The filler is injected into the tear trough to produce subtle volume, reduce discoloration, and refresh the appearance.

Do I need the same amount each treatment?

Since most people get subsequent treatments before all of the Juvéderm as been absorbed, patients typically require less filler on their follow-up treatments.

How much does Juvéderm cost in Charlotte?

The price for a Juvéderm treatment in Charlotte can vary. Juvéderm is typically priced per syringe, and each syringe contains 1 ml. of product. Experienced injectors tend to charge more, but also produce superior results in many cases. Also, the price can vary between the first and subsequent syringe, with the second syringe often costing less. When you schedule a consultation at Carolina Facial Plastics, we can give you a more accurate price for your procedure.

How many syringes do most patients require on their first treatment?

This depends on many variables, including the treatment location, age of the patient, and the amount of volume loss. It can range from 1 syringe to over 20 syringes.

What is unique regarding the technique to inject Juvéderm in Charlotte at Carolina Facial Plastics?

Fillers have been historically injected with a needle. Our injectors believe a needle is painful, traumatic, and can cause bruising. At Carolina Facial Plastics, we use a blunt-tipped micro-cannula to inject facial fillers. This micro-cannula causes less trauma, resulting in a more comfortable experience and less risk of a bruise.

Can I be allergic to Juvéderm?

Since Juvéderm is composed of a naturally occurring substance in the body, it has an extremely low incidence of an allergic reaction. I have personally never seen a patient that was allergic to Juvéderm at my Charlotte practice.

How often are Juvederm injections performed at Carolina Facial Plastics?

Dr. Kulbersh is a leader in injectable fillers in Charlotte. He is performs more filler treatments in North and South Carolina than any other provider.

Can a patient have a consultation and injections on the same day?

We commonly perform injections on the same day as the consultation. When scheduling your appointment, let our receptionist know you are interested in having the injections the same day. The receptionist can schedule sufficient time to perform the injections.
