A variety of modalities can address the aging skin. The excess skin can be removed by making a small incision underneath the eyelashes. If the skin has begun to thin, a chemical peel or laser resurfacing treatment can stimulate collagen production and rejuvenate the epidermis.
Excess puffiness or bags under the eyes
Excess fat that herniates from behind the eye may lead to puffiness in the lower lid. Dr. Kulbersh repositions the fat to the cheek area during the procedure. The recovery from a lower blepharoplasty will take about 1-2 weeks depending on the individual. During the first week after the eyelid procedure, the patient will experience swelling and bruising. This will peak 48 hours after the surgery. Vision will be a little hazy as the patient will be placing drops and ointment in the eye. There is minimal pain associated with this eyelid treatment, but patients will have narcotic pain medications available. Stitches placed below the eyelids are dissolvable. For fat reposition lower blepharoplasty, the stitches will be removed 1 week after surgery.

This fat is moved into a better position in the cheek area to smooth the region. This technique creates the most natural and long-lasting result. Dr. Kulbersh believe in preserving the fat around the eye. To treat loose, wrinkled skin on the lower eyelid, he makes a small incision underneath the eyelashes and removes excess skin. If there is loss of volume in the cheek that has contributed to under-eye circles, Dr. Kulbersh can use facial fillers, facial fat transfer, or a cheek implant to restore volume to the cheek area.
For upper blepharoplasty – Dr. Kulbersh makes an incision along the upper eyelid’s crease. He either removes pockets of fat in the upper eyelid or repositions it so the area will lay flatter.
