Ponytail Facelift in Charlotte
- A “ponytail lift” is a facelift technique that targets the eyes, cheeks, and brows, tightening these areas to create a similar effect to that of a tightly-pulled ponytail. The procedure is less invasive than a traditional facelift that focuses on the mid and lower face. A ponytail lift is an effective way to address mild to moderate signs of aging in the mid and upper face.

“Dr. Kulbersh is not just a master facial surgeon; he is an artist. During pre-surgery consultations for a face-lift, he asked about my expectations and desired results. Dr. Kulbersh clearly explained and demonstrated the results.”

What does Ponytail Facelift Surgery Treat?
A ponytail lift focuses on opening the eyes, lifting the cheeks, and tightening the jawline. It tends to be most effective on mild to moderate signs of aging in these areas. Dr. Kulbersh combines a ponytail lift with eyelid surgery, facial fat grafting, or injectable fillers to get the tight ponytail appearance. He will go over your best options with you at your consultation.
Dr. Kulbersh’s Approach to the Ponytail Facelift
Dr. Kulbersh offers the ponytail lift as an alternative to the traditional facelift for the right patient. He typically performs this procedure using local or general anesthesia. Many people believe that a ponytail lift is done by making small incisions along the upper hairline and around the ears. In this technique, sutures are used to lift deep tissues. This technique is not long-lasting and patients are usually disappointed.
To ensure the tight ponytail appearance lasts, the incision is placed in front of and behind the ear. It is blended with the natural skin creases and it is difficult to see after it heals. In this approach, the deeper tissues can be mobilized and lifted to provide a long-lasting and natural result. Through the incisions, Dr. Kulbersh repositions tissue, removes excess skin, and tightens muscle to create a smoother, uplifted look to the face.
Like other procedures, exact steps of a ponytail lift vary based on the specific needs and goals of each patient. By customizing treatments, Dr. Kulbersh achieves natural, beautiful results that are in harmony with the patient’s contours and features.

What is a ponytail facelift?

How will my ponytail facelift procedure go?
Your procedure will be performed at our fully accredited Fairview Surgical Suites in Charlotte. Dr. Kulbersh will make incisions in the natural skin creases around the ears so he can tighten muscles, reposition tissue, and remove excess skin. After your surgery, you’ll need approximately one week of recovery time.
What does recovery look like?
Recovery time takes approximately one week. Dr. Kulbersh will prescribe pain medication to keep you comfortable during the recovery process, but many patients find over-the-counter medicine is sufficient for managing any postoperative discomfort.
Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for about one month after surgery. Sun exposure should be limited as much as possible. It’s recommended that recovering patients eat well, stay hydrated, get enough sleep, and avoid using nicotine products to ensure a healthy healing process.
Does ponytail lift leave scars?
This procedure leaves minimal scarring that’s concealed within the hairline or natural folds of the skin. Once the scars have fully healed, they are nearly invisible in most cases.
Does it hurt?
Dr. Kulbersh performs this procedure using local or general anesthesia so you are comfortable throughout your surgery. Pain medication is usually prescribed for the recovery period, although many of our patients don’t need anything more than over-the-counter Tylenol during this time.
Will insurance cover my ponytail facelift?
Because a ponytail lift is done for cosmetic purposes, insurance does not cover this procedure.
