What is the Cost of a Blepharoplasty in Charlotte?

Blepharoplasty, also commonly known as an eyelid lift, is a wonderful procedure for a patient seeking to correct sagging skin or puffy bags around their eyes. The eyes portray our feelings, emotions, and a majority of our non-verbal communication. Undergoing eye enhancement surgery to lift eyes that look tired, puffy, or old, into eyes that look awake and vibrant, can significantly improve one’s quality of life. Anytime a patient is considering undergoing an eyelift in Charlotte, cost can be a deciding factor, so it is important to plan accordingly.

What are the Factors that Go into the Cost of a Blepharoplasty?

A team of healthcare professionals and supplies are utilized during the process of undergoing an eyelid lift. There are 3 main components of the price of an eyelid lift:

  1. Facility Fee
  2. Anesthesia Fee
  3. Surgeon’s Fee

What is the Facility Fee?

The facility fee is used to cover expenses for the services and supplies provided during surgery. For a blepharoplasty, the office, surgery center, or hospital would all be suitable facilities to perform the procedure. The fee is used to compensate the staff, cover the cost of supplies, and equipment of the facility. The fee covers the overhead including rent, utilities, cleaning staff, and other expenses.

The facility fee varies from each location, but typically this fee will be less at an office. For this reason, if cost is an important factor for patients, the procedure done in-office is most affordable.

What is the Anesthesia Fee?

I take great efforts to ensure my patients have the best experience during their surgery process. The anesthesia fee is used to cover the costs of the medical personal giving the anesthesia (anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist) and all their supplies. Their supplies include medications and equipment that they use during your procedure.

An eyelid lift can be completed while the patient is asleep, in twilight sedation, or awake. If a patient chooses to undergo a blepharoplasty while awake, they would not pay an anesthesia fee. For this reason, undergoing a blepharoplasty while awake would be a way to make the procedure more affordable. If the procedure is complete while the patient is awake, the patient is given medications by mouth and a series of injections to prevent any discomfort

What Does the Surgeon’s Fee Account for During an Eyelid Lift in Charlotte?

This fee covers the compensation for your surgeon, which include all appointments before and after the surgery. It will typically entail 1-2 appointments before surgery (pre-op) and at least 4 appointments after surgery (post-op). It covers the time that the surgeon takes to perform the surgery which can vary from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours.

This fee is used cover the overhead of a facial plastic surgery practice to pay staff, supplies to care for patients, electricity, rent, and other costs. There are many other costs that are covered from the surgeon’s fee that do not go directly to your doctor.

What are the Main Variables That Will Determine the Range in the Cost of Blepharoplasty in Charlotte?

The biggest variable is the location of the procedure and type of anesthesia. An eyelid lift in the office is more affordable than in the surgery center or hospital. The procedure completed while the patient is awake is less expensive than a patient that is placed asleep by anesthesia.

Another variable of cost is whether or not the patient chooses to have one or both eyelids lifted. A patient may choose to have their upper, lower, or combine both upper and lower eyelids to be lifted. Upper blepharoplasties are less expensive than lower blepharoplasties. A combined upper and lower eyelid lift is more expensive than just having either the upper or lower eyelids lifted.

What is the General Cost of a Blepharoplasty in Charlotte?

The cost ranges from the low end of $2,000 up to $6000 for an eyelid lift in North Carolina. Most patients fall somewhere in the middle of this range.
