The Difference Between All the Juvedérm Fillers

Juvéderm® has become a household name when it comes to anti-aging treatments. The Juvéderm fillers are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that can restore volume, soften facial lines, enhance facial contours, and add volume to your lips.

I know it can get confusing to distinguish the difference between these facial fillers and find the best injectable to treat your particular concerns. I have broken down the family of Juvéderm fillers in this quick guide below.

What are the different Juvéderm fillers?

There is a Juvederm filler for nearly any cosmetic concern. Choosing the right one for you depends on your aesthetic goals and your desired results.

The different Juvéderm products include:

  • Juvéderm
  • Juvéderm Voluma
  • Juvéderm Volbella
  • Juvéderm Vollure

How do these fillers differ from each other?

All Juvéderm dermal fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the human body, but each type is formulated in a unique way to address a particular aesthetic goal.

HA attracts and binds with moisture, giving the skin a plump and youthful appearance. As we age, the production of HA, collagen, and elastin slows down, causing the skin to wrinkle and sag.

Juvéderm fillers rejuvenate the skin by adding HA back into the dermal structure to effectively restore support to a target area. Each filler will have its own unique consistency and some include a unique cross-linking technology that tends to create a slightly different result and offer greater durability.

Juvéderm Volbella, Voluma, and Vollure are made with patented Vycross technology that cross-links HA molecules of higher and lower weights, allowing the fillers to hold their shape in varying degrees to produce smoother results with the flexibility to allow for natural movement with facial expressions.

The subtle differences in their chemistry and formulation (HA concentration), contribute to each Juvéderm filler’s unique capabilities and allow each injectable to treat specific aging concerns and target areas.

Which Juvéderm Filler is Best For….

Each Juvéderm filler is specially designed to be most effective in particular areas or for particular concerns. I’ll discuss each filler below to help you better determine the best injectable for your needs and goals.

Juvéderm

The original Juvéderm filler can be used in many areas of the face to smooth away lines and restore volume. We use it anywhere from filling in hollow tear troughs to minimizing nasolabial folds and plumping up the lips. Juvéderm is also a good choice for non-surgical nose enhancements.

Juvéderm Volbella

Juvéderm Volbella is used to augment the lips by adding volume and smoothing the lines and wrinkles around the lips that are caused by the natural aging process, sun damage, or smoking. It is also used to smooth away vertical lines that form above the upper lip and to enhance the nose without surgery.

Juvéderm Voluma

While many areas of the face can be augmented or enhanced with Juvéderm Voluma, the most common area is the cheek region. When injected in this area, Voluma can lift, define, and angulate to create beautiful cheek definition. Juvéderm Voluma can also be added to other areas of the face, including the jawline, chin, and temple region.

Juvéderm Vollure

Juvéderm Vollure is primarily used to treat the folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, known as the nasolabial folds, as well as marionette lines (the lines that run vertically between the mouth and chin)

Vollure also adds natural-looking volume and can provide better shaping to the cheek and jawline to rejuvenate the lower part of the face for a more vibrant look.

Which type of Juvéderm lasts the longest?

Juvéderm Voluma provides the longest-lasting results. Its effects can last up to 2 years with maintenance treatments.

Juvéderm extends about 6-12 months, Juvéderm Volbella can last up to 12 months, and Juvéderm Vollure up to 18 months. We can help you create a treatment schedule to maintain your improvements over the long term.
