What is Liquid Rhinoplasty?

Liquid rhinoplasty uses a variety of injectable dermal fillers to shape the nose into a more appealing shape that harmonizes with the rest of the facial features. Also known as a non-surgical rhinoplasty, this treatment takes just a few minutes to complete and does not require incisions, anesthesia, or downtime.

I am a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon specializing in facial cosmetic treatments at Carolina Facial Plastics in Charlotte, NC. My team of aesthetic specialists and I perform surgical and non-surgical procedures to help patients feel empowered in their skin.

Our very skilled board-certified physician assistants, Heather Bryant and Amanda Piligian, and board-certified nurse practitioner, Courtney Whitley, handle injectables procedures, including liquid rhinoplasty.

How is Liquid Rhinoplasty Done?

The selected dermal fillers are strategically injected into the nose to add the desired volume or contour.

The procedure can be performed with topical anesthesia to reduce any pain or discomfort. It takes approximately 30 minutes for the entire process, and patients can return to normal daily activities immediately following the injection.

Swelling is typically minimal, and it is uncommon for patients to experience other side effects. If you do experience swelling or tenderness after treatment, the symptoms are usually mild and only last a day or two.

While liquid rhinoplasty is a non-surgical nose job, it still requires expertise and experience to ensure the best possible outcome. The wrong placement, incorrect filler, or inappropriate dosing amount can dramatically impact your appearance. The skill and experience of our medical team ensures patients a safe procedure and superior results.

Which Fillers Are Used For Liquid Rhinoplasty?

The two most common fillers used for a liquid rhinoplasty procedure are Juvederm® and Restylane®. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based filler that can restore volume deep in the dermal layer of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that can be found in our bodies, and when injected into the skin, it can add volume and hydration. Restylane is another hyaluronic acid filler that restores and rejuvenates.

Because these dermal fillers are made with a substance that naturally occurs in the body, they create natural results when injected into the skin. We will carefully select your filler and customize your treatment to ensure your outcome is both natural and beautiful.

Benefits of Liquid Rhinoplasty

This very popular cosmetic procedure offers a myriad of benefits, including:

  • More attractive nose shape
  • Reduction in lumps and humps
  • Elevation of the tip of the nose
  • More balanced appearance
  • Non-invasive procedure
  • Instant results
  • Correction of asymmetries
  • Pain-free non-surgical nose job
  • Less downtime
  • Fast procedure
  • Safe and convenient

Liquid rhinoplasty is an effective alternative to a surgical rhinoplasty procedure. While it can provide nose shape and appearance changes, it is not always the most effective solution. Our experts meet with you to evaluate your nose and your aesthetic goals to determine if liquid or traditional rhinoplasty is the best solution.

Patients seeking to correct a disfigured or broken nose, or those wanting more dramatic changes, will likely see more satisfying results from a surgical rhinoplasty procedure.

Liquid rhinoplasty is a fast-acting solution with lasting results for minor to moderate changes in shape and appearance. You may be a candidate for liquid rhinoplasty if you have:

  • Small nasal bump
  • Slight nose droop
  • Asymmetries
  • Pinched tip
  • Narrow nasal bridge
  • Concave along the nasal bridge

How Long Does Liquid Rhinoplasty Last?

Liquid rhinoplasty is not a permanent solution and requires regular treatment sessions to maintain your improvement. Results vary by patient, but typically results can last up to 18 months. Some patients even see lasting results for 2-3 years after one treatment.

We will evaluate your nose and recommend appropriately spaced follow-up treatments to maintain a beautifully shaped nose and facial balance. It is important to understand how liquid rhinoplasty works and manage expectations, as they differ from a traditional rhinoplasty’s more comprehensive approach.

What are the Risks?

Compared to a surgical procedure, liquid rhinoplasty has relatively low risks and the chance of side effects. Some patients may experience:

  • Pain/tenderness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Irritation
  • Inflammation
