Frequently Asked Questions

Will my face still move naturally, or will I look frozen?

Your face maintains complete natural movement because Microbotox targets the skin, not the muscles underneath. Unlike traditional Botox, which relaxes muscles to reduce wrinkles, microbotox is injected superficially into the skin layer. This means you’ll keep all your natural expressions – you can laugh, frown, and smile without any stiffness or frozen appearance.

What’s the difference between Microbotox and regular Botox?

Microbotox and traditional Botox work quite differently. Traditional Botox targets muscles with deeper injections to reduce movement and smooth wrinkles. Microbotox uses tiny, superficial injections just beneath the skin’s surface. This diluted formula focuses on improving skin texture, reducing pore size, and controlling oil production rather than freezing muscle movement. Think of traditional Botox as working from the inside out (muscles), while Microbotox works from the outside in (skin).

Does it hurt more than regular Botox since there are more injection points?

Actually, it’s less painful because the injections are very superficial, using tiny needles just under the skin’s surface. Most patients describe it as a series of tiny pinches. We can also apply numbing cream 15 minutes before treatment for extra comfort. The whole process feels similar to getting a light microneedling treatment.

I have oily skin - how long will the oil-control benefits last?

Most patients see reduced oil production for 2-3 months. You’ll notice the biggest difference in the first 6 weeks. The treatment works by temporarily reducing the activity of your oil glands, so you’ll see less shine and smaller-looking pores. As the effects gradually wear off, oil production slowly returns to normal – there’s no sudden rebound effect.

Can I combine this with regular Botox on my forehead?

Yes, many patients do both. We typically do traditional Botox for deep wrinkles while using Microbotox to treat skin texture and pore size. The treatments complement each other well and can be done in the same session. We’ll create a custom treatment plan based on your specific concerns.

I have acne - will this make it worse or better?

Microbotox often helps with acne by reducing oil production at its source. The treatment can decrease breakouts by minimizing sebum production and pore size. However, we recommend waiting until any active breakouts have cleared before treatment to reduce any risk of infection or inflammation.
