Frequently Asked Questions

What causes melasma?

Hormonal changes, sun exposure, genetics, and certain medications can trigger melasma. During your consultation, we’ll help you identify your specific triggers to create the most effective treatment plan. Understanding these triggers is crucial because managing them is just as important as the treatment itself for achieving long-lasting results.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies depending on the severity of your melasma and the treatment method you choose. Most patients see optimal results with a series of 4-6 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart. This spacing allows your skin adequate time to heal and respond to each treatment while maintaining steady progress toward your goals.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime varies by treatment type. Some treatments may have minimal to no downtime while some chemical peels and laser treatments may require 2-7 days of recovery time. Our team will work with you to schedule treatments around important events and commitments, ensuring minimal disruption to your daily routine.

How can I prevent melasma from returning?

We’ll provide a comprehensive prevention plan to help minimize flare-ups, including proper sun protection, skincare products, and maintenance treatments to help maintain your results long-term. This typically includes a detailed morning and evening skincare routine, specific product recommendations, and lifestyle adjustments that will help protect your investment in your skin’s health.

Are these treatments safe for all skin types?

Yes, we offer various treatment options that are safe for all skin types. During your consultation, we’ll determine which treatments are most appropriate for your skin type and tone. Our extensive experience treating diverse skin types allows us to customize treatments that are effective and safe for your specific complexion.

When will I see the results?

While some improvement may be visible after your first treatment, optimal results typically develop over 3-6 months as your skin responds to the treatments and new, healthier skin cells emerge. Many patients report seeing gradual improvements throughout their treatment course, with the most dramatic results becoming apparent after completing their full treatment series.
