Depending on your goals and our recommendations, your treatment may include a combination of injectables and laser or energy devices.

While facial fillers are often used to restore a more youthful appearance by lifting drooping areas and smoothing away lines and wrinkles, according to ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, they can also be used for nonsurgical jawline rejuvenation. Facial fillers can correct lower face asymmetries, augment the chin, and sculpt a more defined jawline. These fillers are often paired with neuromodulators (Botox Cosmetic® and Dysport®) to produce more dramatic results. Botox can relax the masseter muscle (chewing muscles) that often give women a masculine appearance. Once the jaw muscles soften and relax, you can achieve a more V-like facial shape.

Other nonsurgical treatment options include devices that target collagen production in the skin. Profound RF works by creating micro-injuries to stimulate a wound-healing response and using RF energy to produce new collagen, improving mild to moderate skin laxity in the neck and jawline. The Cutera Titan, on the other hand, uses light energy to heat the dermis and stimulate collagen production to tighten the skin.

During your consultation (which can be done virtually), we will discuss your concerns and goals and then determine what combination of nonsurgical treatments are needed to produce your desired results. We will determine which areas of your jawline and/or chin require contouring and identify treatments and their corresponding lifespans so you can decide accordingly. Scheduling touch-up treatments to maintain results will also be discussed.

If you decide to receive injectables, the treatment should take no more than 15 minutes to complete, depending on your skin condition and the size of the treatment area. A small amount of neuromodulator or filler is precisely injected along several areas to create balance. The needle used for the procedure is very small, so most patients find the session to be very comfortable without the need for topical numbing on the skin. However, numbing cream can always be applied to the injection sites to help reduce any discomfort.

If you combine your injectable treatment or decide on a light or energy device treatment as a stand-alone procedure, your treatment session will be a little longer. When you come to Carolina Facial Plastics for a Profound RF treatment, your skin will be cleansed and numbed with topical medication. The Cutera Titan, on the other hand, utilizes safe, infrared light energy to heat the dermis, making it comfortable enough to be performed without anesthesia. However, some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever beforehand. Profound RF and Cutera Titan can be performed in an hour or less.
