The neck is one of the first and most prominent areas to show the signs of aging. The platysma muscle, the most main muscle of the anterior neck, can lose tone, causing the skin to sag and the chin to “double” or form a “turkey neck.” In addition, lines develop vertically and horizontally, and skin quality decreases. A neck lift is a procedure that focuses on this area, tightening skin and deeper tissue with less recovery time than a full facelift. At Charlotte’s Carolina Facial Plastic Surgery Center, Dr. Jonathan Kulbersh ensures the neck lift procedure appears natural and in harmony with the rest of your facial features.
Why Opt for a Neck Lift?
Whether you just lost a significant amount of weight, or it’s due to aging or heredity, a sagging neck line can add years to your appearance. By opting for a neck lift procedure, Charlotte patients can firm the neck area, reduce wrinkles or lines and gain back years of lost youth. Compared to full facelift procedures, a neck lift requires minimal incisions and reconstruction. Recovery time is quicker, and, according to Dr. Kulbersh’s Charlotte patients, results are often excellent.
About the Procedure
Charlotte’s Dr. Kulbersh performs a neck lift with small incisions that are hidden underneath the chin. He uses a “hammock maneuver” during a neck lift procedure, which is similar to tightening the ends of a hammock, to pull the loose tissue tighter. The platysma muscle is also altered to produce a more angular jawline, and the jawline is also sculpted by pulling up the loose tissue at and around the lower part of the ear. If a patient has fatty deposits in the neck, these can be liposuctioned out at this time.
Patients in Charlotte recovery relatively quickly from a neck lift procedure. Dr. Kulbersh prescribes pain and anti-nausea medications if necessary, and wraps the neck in a dressing, which is removed the next day. Typically, it takes one to two weeks to recovery from a neck lift surgery. Learn more from our neck lift guide.
