When patients hear the phrase “forehead lift” and “brow lift,” both terms are referring to the same procedure. Forehead lifts and brow lifts are used to correct signs of aging in the forehead and rejuvenate the appearance of a heavy, sagging brow line. Using the skills and techniques learned under the best Beverly Hill plastic surgeons, I can use several different brow lift techniques in order to help patients achieve a more youthful look.
What Is the Aging Process of the Forehead?
Our forehead is an important part of our face as it helps us to communicate many emotions. As patients age, they notice that they develop deep wrinkles and lines on the forehead and between the eyes. The skin around the forehead and brow loses elasticity and can begin sagging. The entire brow line can have a drooping appearance that makes the patient not only look much older, but also angry. When the brow drops too low, it can make the eyes look sunken and tired. Some patients may need to undergo an upper eyelid lift in order to see the most optimal results. The aging process of the forehead leaves many patients feeling self-conscious and unsatisfied about the appearance of their brow line. At Carolina Facial Plastics, I offer patients a surgical brow lift in order to correct the look of heavy and sagging brows.
What are the Different Brow Lift Techniques?
At my practice, I utilize four main brow lift techniques in order to deliver quality results to each patient. With each technique, I am committed to providing patients with natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing results that will rejuvenate the face.
One Centimeter Incision Brow Lift – The least invasive brow lift procedure, I co-developed the one centimeter incision brow lift and am the only plastic surgeon in the Charlotte area that performs this innovative technique. During this procedure, a one centimeter incision is made in the eyebrow and a suture is used to lift the brow. This type of brow lift is ideal for patients who want a more subtle look.
Endoscopic Brow Lift – This brow lift involves incisions that are strategically placed in the hairline that allow the forehead and eyebrows to become elevated and lifted.
Direct Brow Lift – While rarely performed except in extreme cases, a direct brow lift can be performed on patients whose vision is impaired due to a severely drooping and fallen brow. This procedure involves removing tissue directly above the brow in order to raise it.
Coronal Brow Lift – This older procedure is the most invasive and requires an incision to be made that spans from one ear to the other. A strip of tissue is then removed across the incision. Special care is made to ensure that the visibility of the scar is minimized.
