Though each patient is unique and presents different reasons for seeking the help of an experienced facial cosmetic surgeon, as a facelift expert in Charlotte, I’ve recently noticed a trend in five of the most commonly expressed reasons for undergoing a facelift.
When a patient comes in for their initial consultation and requests more information on how a facelift and necklift may help rejuvenate their facial features, they are often concerned about the following:
1. “I look tired.”
2. “My chin and neck aren’t as defined as they used to be.”
3. “I’ve noticed my skin is losing elasticity.”
4. “Deep creases around my nose and mouth are aging my appearance.”
5. “My Jawline is blending in with my neck.”
Because the goal of a facelift is to tighten and lift sagging and excess skin, every concern on this list is easily addressable through the procedure. If a patient feels as though all five statements above are true, they may be a great candidate to undergo a facelfit, which corrects sagging, removes excess skin, and tightens muscles and tissues within the face and neck. This type of facelift is the most aggressive, and often results in a noticeably youthful yet natural result for patients.
When patients are primarily concerned with a tired appearance and a loss of muscle tone or skin elasticity, undergoing a mini facelift may provide desired results. Because this type of facelift is aimed at correcting initial signs of aging, the procedure has a quicker recovery time. During a mini facelift, I aim to tighten and lift sagging skin, and often recommend the use of fillers or fat grafting to correct volume loss, which combats a tired appearance.
For patients who are in the very beginning stages of the aging process or for individuals who aren’t quite ready to seek a surgical procedure, a liquid facelift is a viable option to help rejuvenate the facial features. Often times, volume loss can age a person’s appearance tremendously. With the help of facial fillers like Juvéderm, Restylane, and Perlane, I can inject the face to restore a youthful appearance. Filler injections are most commonly used to volumize the temples, cheeks, chin, jawline, lips, and under eye area. To combat wrinkles and crow’s feet, I use Botox to diminish their appearance, making the liquid facelift entirely non-invasive.
